"No R***rded People Please" says booking page for comedian at Adelaide's Duke of York
Biddy O'Loughlin is hosting a show at Adelaide's Duke of York Hotel on October 12th.
Readers are warned this story contains examples of prejudice against disabled people and other minorities.
Update: It appears Duke of York Hotel has cancelled the upcoming show. The original article follows below.
A booking page for an anti-trans comedian’s set at Adelaide’s Duke of York Hotel proudly proclaims “No Retarded People Please”.
The booking page, provided to Lucy from Naarm by a concerned South Australian, appears to be from an event that comedian Biddy O’Loughlin held earlier this year at the Duke of York Hotel.
However, the Duke of York will be hosting O’Loughlin again later this month for her show Funny Girl, Sad Songs.
The Duke of York Hotel may have contravened South Australian law by hosting the Anti-transgender comedian, as in South Australia, it is unlawful to discriminate based on someone’s disability.
"I'm a comedian, it's my job to mock the absurd", Biddy said on her Instagram.
Biddy O’Loughlin was previously revealed to have publicly abused a woman in her therapy group, ultimately getting kicked out and permanently banned from the meeting.
Former patrons of Duke of York have come forward, upset at the decision to allow such a regressive and backward comedian to take the stage.
“Now that they plan on hosting a hateful and aggressive "comedian", I will be making sure to find a better establishment for my own safety and the safety of my friends and family. I question the owners ethics and safety of the customers.”, said one commenter.
In an unrequested email to Lucy From Naarm, Biddy O’Loughlin caught wind of the story and asked, “So when does this retarded story come out?”.
Biddy O’Loughlin returns to The Duke of York Hotel at 82 Currie Street, Adelaide, on October 12th.
What a vile human, profiteering from others pain and abuse. Should be in prison for hate crime not given a platform. I hope they rescind her booking as has happened to Hatie Hopkins in the UK.
