The UK activist group Trans Kids Deserve Better has nearly doubled its fundraising total after a coordinated effort by trans-exclusionary radical feminists (TERFs) led to the shutdown of their original donation page. The group had initially raised close to £5,000 through JustGiving, with funds to go towards their activism work.

The trouble began after the group disrupted the LGB Alliance's annual conference in London by releasing 6,000 crickets into the conference hall. (The LGB Alliance is an anti-transgender organization that spreads misinformation and works against transgender rights, masquerading as a gay-rights organisation.)

Following the cricket protest, members of anti-trans groups engaged in a mass reporting campaign against Trans Kids Deserve Better's crowdfunding page on JustGiving. The platform capitulated to the pressure, shut down the fundraiser, and refunded all donations, citing violations of their terms and conditions and concerns over use of funds.

Undeterred, Trans Kids Deserve Better quickly established a new fundraising page on a different platform. The response was overwhelming: supporters rallied, and donations poured in, surpassing £7,000—far exceeding their original target of £1,000.

In a statement, the group said, "We’re angry our money was stolen, but if the transphobes and the TERFs think that’s all it takes to stop the love of the trans community, then they could benefit from a lesson or two in real grassroots activism."

The incident has galvanized the trans community and its allies. The attempt to silence Trans Kids Deserve Better has only strengthened their resolve and increased public support for their cause.

"JustGiving refunded my donation on the previous crowdfunder, so I’ve immediately donated it here instead. To all the transphobes trying to shut this page down, you've lost." one donor wrote.

Trans Kids Deserve Better’s activism comes at a time when transgender rights in the UK are under continual assault, with severe healthcare barriers in place for transgender youth across the country.
