Unfortunately, I got this story wrong; it appears the person sent to the men’s prison and then later transferred to the women’s prison was a transgender man. I would normally leave the article up but I do not want to misgender the man.
I think this highlights how poorly these sources we rely on, including the primary source of the Scottish Prison, report on Trans people.
I want to also highlight how awful it is that the transgender man is being mistreated in prison.
I apologise for the error and I’ll be looking into seeing how I can do better with the international coverage I do.
